The ISSWSH-TASHRA Sexual Attitudes Reassessment (SAR) program is a process-oriented seminar designed to help sexual health providers, educators and researchers to better support gender and sexual diversity in their work. Participants will have the opportunity to explore their attitudes, values, feelings and beliefs about sexual attitudes, behaviors and identities and how these impact their professional interactions.
A SAR seminar is not a traditional academic experience intended to disseminate cognitive information, nor is it psychotherapy directed toward the resolution of personal problems. This psycho-educational experience uses lecture, media, experiential methods, activities and small group discussions to facilitate a highly personal, internal exploration that will be different for each participant. Some materials will be sexually explicit and may also involve a field trip and/ or live demonstration.
This SAR is a two-day hybrid event that satisfies the AASECT SAR requirements for certification as a sexuality educator, counselor or therapist:
- Day 1 takes place in-person in Long Beach, CA on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 (the day before the ISSWSH Annual Meeting begins) - 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Separate Registration Required)
- Day 2 takes place online/virtually on Saturday, April 13, 2024
Due to the unique curriculum, attendees must read the informed consent and sign the Memorandum of Understanding - Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement.
NOTE: This form is only for registered attendees of the SAR course. If you are not registered or do not intend to register for the SAR, please disregard.
Q: Does this course offer continuing medical education credits?
A: Yes; however, to receive credit you must attend both days (February 21 and April 13).
Q: What if I am not available to attend the virtual program on April 13, 2024? Will it be recorded?
A: We regret to inform participants that due to the sensative nature of the program content, the virtual program on April 13, 2024 will not be recorded; therefore, participants MUST attend the live session to receive credit.
Q: Who is able to register for and attend this SAR?
A: Anyone who works in or has a special interest in the field of sexual health. This includes individuals who do not qualify for any of the other professional categories under the registration page, but who have a special interest in sexual health advocacy, such as patient advocates, support group leaders, and fundraisers whose missions are consistent with that of the ISSWSH.
